Evening address : teachers day 2014

Sept 7 , 2014
Pre script : we celebrated Teachers' day on 7th this year just to make use of sunday , and make the event grand  which included a painting and sketch competition for all kid of various schools of kharagpur and finally the cultural evening .Thank you Manish and his team for such a prolific arrangement and logistics.
Just sharing my part of the evening .

Respected  Deputy Director Prof. saubhik Bhattacharya ,Esteemed professors , my dear friends and colleagues and my youngers ,who are representing various schools of kharagpur - in each of you I see a future , a vision for a better society.

Before I start this evening note on behalf of Radhakrishnan hall of residence

" GOOD EVENING and NAMASKAR"
Carrying the culture and history , we continue to celebrate this evening as teachers' day : as a mark of commemoration to Dr S. Radhakrishnan : an Indian philosopher and statesman ,
1st vice -president and then president of India , spalding professor of eastern religion and ethics at oxford university and finally a teacher of harmony , love and global connectivity .

Today , as we come together on one to one platform , we should ensure that this day does not end up with just a mere celebration , music and exchange of gifts.

Rather it should be our duty to think and act beyond the conservative lines of formality.
As words never loose its value , as speeches put a mark of foot prints on sands of time , as the candle light to mark the beginning is flowering high , its high time for us to come together to take an oath for the sake of better world , better globe , better vision and a better society.
And the way to do this is alread found in our sacred books and literature .As Swamiji says and I quote : teach yourself first and then teach every one .
"Teach yourself, teach everyone his real nature, call upon the sleeping soul and see how it awakes. Power will come, glory will come, goodness will come, purity will come, everything that is excellent will come when this sleeping soul is roused to self-conscious activity."

I and you

Every one among us is a teacher as well as a student .

As a teacher , we need to be a reformed father , we need to be an epitome of love and care , as well as a symbol of discipline and dedication .As a teacher we need to be an instrument of imparting an art of living , living well . And as a student we need to be the carrier of this art of living , living well.

As a teacher , we need to be the theories and philosophy of life. As a student we need to be the elucidation . We need to be the illustration ,example and application of this theory and philosophy .

lee Iacocca , the renowned american businessman says and I quote :
"In a completely rational society, the best of us would be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next is the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have.”

A teacher always implies something .When he asks you to get out of the class ;he implies something. When he asks you to visit class on time , he implies something .When he monitors you , he implies something , when he scolds you , he implies something . As a teacher we need to be the symbol of implication and as a student we need to be the interpretation .
so allow me to welcome you all to this evening with a sloka
That means
 Let us both protect each other together! May both of us enjoy together! May both of us put our energies together! May our studies be radiantly glorious! May there be no hatred between us!
And here I conclude this evening note with a small attempt of poetry , I tried to encapture last night

तुम हो तो ये अंजुमन है ;

  1. 'Culture' and 'Civilization' are often used interchangeably. However 'Culture' is human-made environment which includes all the material and non-material products of group life that are transmitted from one generation to the next, while 'Civilization' may be having better ways of living and sometimes making nature bend to fulfill our needs. That's why some HALLS consider themselves as civilized and it is reflected in their tempo shout after the events ;)

KERALA TOURISM :DAY 2 and ALLEPPEY BACKWATERS

May be because " It's always our self we find in the sea.”   or may be because the strong analogy water hold with life as it goes on irrespective of whatever it dissolves ...or may be the inductive serenity , You never get tired of water . “It is life, I think, to watch the water. A man can learn so many things.”  ―  Nicholas Sparks ,  The Notebook Comfort ,freedom, an aura of redemption and the sunny rays reflecting back from waves ,kissing my cheeks and knowingly or unknowingly melting the sun cream ...I have never expected more than this from nature . The day with Alappuzha/Alleppey was precisely a floating day  :Six good hours of boating across Alleppey backwaters . And it all began like this    The panoramic view of back waters taken from boat    Coconut trees have its own charm."And the kerala coconut beer is a must try, its sumptuous in taste and cheaper than kingfisher "said one resident. Anyway it was tough to  break off th

AMRITA PRITAM :A Diary Entry

"There was a grief I smoked in silence, like a cigarette only a few poems fell out of the ash I flicked from it." :Amrita pritam The afternoon of october 31,2005, literature sensed the demise of an embodiment that was capturing the intensity of social dilemma, emotions of feminism and precisely the perpetual state of love making since time immemorial. Those days I started nourishing my keen interest in hindi literature through translated works of this lady.  To be more qualitative behind the every craftsmanship that I started edging out with time , behind the reflection that my lines managed out of emotional and relational dictum there lies some inspiration . Writings of Amrita Pritam were not like advises rather a demand redefining the norms and the social structure. Today I erased my house number; gifted the street plate  to the long grown darkness. And identity that defines the road to my street I immersed that to tidal waves. Yet I have an answer to your
