Institute Foundation Day.

Good morning IIT Kharagpur .

Thank you for 
Peace and tranquility muffled in cottons of love , confidence and an imparted charisma that rare people on the good earth get a chance to have .

Its really an element of surprise that you get an year older every time and we fail to notice how it happened so momentarily.


The said to be the foundation stone of IIT Kharagpur has been a symbolic witness of more than almost 60 years of battles and wars .It has witnessed success in the form of redemption : from a detention camp to a torch bearer of technological understandings that gets reflected in its alumni contribution to technical advancement in India and abroad.


It has witnessed marks and scars symbolic of what we have lost [ in reference to its upbringing from the trauma of detention and world war II ] , and then what ever we have conquered of socially as well as politically .The ongoing phase of Indian polity and the year hence phase of electoral expostulation , are further on its way  to put another marks on foot print of sand [in reference to Arvind Kejriwal's resistance , revival and renaissance against top to bottom corruption].

I further believe its time to take pledge to contribute towards its global versatility , to contribute towards the core lines of research , administration , art and writings that strengthens the backbone of any society .We are in an edging phase of cultural defence , that puts in a responsibility to our shoulder to adopt , enact and let this light of wisdom and intelligencia glow for ever and ever.

Yes , this society needs industrialists but having said that it further needs philosophers to boost the industrialism .
Yes , we need technocrats , but having said that we need artists and thinkers to outline the vision for technocrats.
Yes , we need research and development , but having said that we further need ethical administrators and educated politics .

This august lets pledge to believe that this country deserves  a better class of polity , a better class of civil officers , a better class of white collar skilled people .
This august lets pledge that we are gonna provide this to this country.

ps- The name "Indian Institute of Technology" was adopted before the formal inauguration of the institute on 18 August 1951 by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.Yet the foundation stone mentions the date of Our first convocation ,when Pt. Nehru visited this place.

गुलज़ार और मैं: तुम मेरे पास होते हो गोया जब कोई दूसरा नहीं होता

मोमिन ने अपने वक़्त में जब ये शेर दर्ज किया की " तुम मेरे पास होते हो  गोया जब  कोई दूसरा नहीं होता " तो ग़ालिब कह बैठे ; " मोमिन ये एक शेर मुझे दे दो , मेरी पूरी जमीनी ले लो " | अलग अलग दौड़ के मजनुओं ने इस शेर को अलग अलग तरीके से अपनी मेहबूबा के लिए दोहराया है | मैं आज गुलज़ार के लिए दोहराता हूँ | मुक्त दो चार लफ़्ज़ों में  एक पूरी जिंदगी समेट लेने की हैसियत रखनेवाले गुलज़ार जाने अनजाने हमारे और आपके पास हर उस लम्हे में होते हैं जब कोई दूसरा नहीं होता | कभी कोई आपके कंधे पे हलके हथेलियों से मारता है , पूछता है " माचिस है ? , तो आप अनायास कह जाते हैं " मैं सिगरेट तो नहीं पीता  मगर हर आने वाले से पूछ लेता हूँ   "माचिस है?"  बहुत कुछ है जिसे मैं फूंक देना चाहता हूँ |" यूँ ही कभी कोई आश्ना , आपसे पूछ बैठे जो "क्या भेजोगे इस बरस ? " तो भींगा सा एक ख्याल आता है " गुलों को सुनना जरा तुम सदायें भेजी हैं / गुलों के हाथ बहुत सी दुआएं भेजी हैं तुम्हारी खुश्क सी आँखें भली नहीं लगती / वो सारी यादें जो तुमको रुलायें भेजी हैं
