Where is the best place to be in India for Diwali?

IIT Kharagpur .
Here lies the precise analysis ,why it is so.
1.Illumination : As mentioned in one of the answers its an artistic structure that consumes multiple chatais , bamboo support ,diyas, stainless wires and sleep less nights .
More over its like  passion to some people, an art to many,a responsibility to a few,and yes a knot to all;or may be like a lightening of candles over the cake piece baked over some 30 to 40 long nights; or may be like an element of the long drawn metaphor that establishes IIT Kharagpur as the eldest brother of the family.
And this Illumination puts forth a lightening and structured diwali ,with alignments speaking out myths,mythology,system and society all like the torch bearing symbols of music art and culture.
The above mention picture depicts the Draupadi cheerharan scene and helplessness of elites in the court .<R K HALL.2012>
2.Rangoli : Rangoli again presents the magnum degree of art and fineness .No trifles, Just perfect. Rangoli uses a firm floor surface and varieties of color dusts that varies in granule size as well as magnitude of softness parameters .
Picture depicts a Rangoli that presents old buliding IIT kharagpur ,and the cloudy aroma.<R K HALL.2012>
Rangoli depicting the epic poetry work by Dr.Harivansh Rai Bachchan.< madhusala. <R K HALL 2011>
"World speaks to me in colours , my soul answers in music"< R.N.Tagore ,R P HALL ,2011>

3.Atmosphere created by the above two :IIT Kgp puts forth a serene atmosphere to cherish .Very less amount of crackers are used , almost no as every one is busy in these two mega events.Yes , evening is quite flooded with visitors from nearby and calcutta , alumni and parents.

KERALA TOURISM :DAY 2 and ALLEPPEY BACKWATERS

May be because " It's always our self we find in the sea.”   or may be because the strong analogy water hold with life as it goes on irrespective of whatever it dissolves ...or may be the inductive serenity , You never get tired of water . “It is life, I think, to watch the water. A man can learn so many things.”  ―  Nicholas Sparks ,  The Notebook Comfort ,freedom, an aura of redemption and the sunny rays reflecting back from waves ,kissing my cheeks and knowingly or unknowingly melting the sun cream ...I have never expected more than this from nature . The day with Alappuzha/Alleppey was precisely a floating day  :Six good hours of boating across Alleppey backwaters . And it all began like this    The panoramic view of back waters taken from boat    Coconut trees have its own charm."And the kerala coconut beer is a must try, its sumptuous in taste and cheaper than kingfisher "said one resident. Anyway it w...

KERALA TOURISM : namkeen paani and day 1

                Before I start putting the glances of god’s own country as they say ,that train journey extended over  the span of 48 hours deserves a firm mention . The worst part of story was : no pantry car ,that simply means food was an issue and was like a setback to foodie people .People were racing between the halt time of train bringing something and something as its good to have something than nothing .And the best part of the story was : Chinua Acheyba . I was rushing through his cult classic magnum opus “ things fall apart ” till end of the journey before I completed it . And when ever I passed by a lingering line ,it was a time to take a break and discuss. "When the moon is shining the cripple becomes hungry for a walk." Anyway the breaks  were variably filled by playing cards, sleeping and of course arguments. Prolixity has never been alien to this country . You just need t...
