An encounter to remember and Postscript notes

Today is december 9th, Some of my good friends whom I count in the genius most list are yet to be placed, some are yet to be shortlisted, some's hard work is yet to be recognized. Since last six days I am strolling across the open grounds of Nalanda complex, waiting for people to convert, come back home, dewrap themselves from those courteous suits that tests our patience, perseverance, pretensions and priorities. It's all about a day, a click of destiny.

I got the yes nod on 3rd December night, though it took mornings to reach up to me. Interview through which I got an offer was simple, straightforward, Not a big deal type, just two or three maths problems and some talks. The interviewer was young enough to realize the substance I am, yet old enough to realize the confidence in my eyes. Interviews that select you are generally like this, simple and smooth , but the one that rejects you are actually charming, to be talked about. And that rejected one was with Ernst and Young.

The guy who rejected me in Goldman Sachs interview, also rejected Prateek Vashishtha. And since he didn't know the fact that " determinant of a matrix is product of eigenvalues " I can't devote more than one line to him.

The Axis Interview was like a bid-ask gap, I was bidding for something, they were asking for something, no matching , no trade execution.

The one with EY was cute and challenging, an encounter to remember. I am just writing relevant stuffs

1. "You are batch rank 2, I have been told toppers are not smart, what's your take ?"
Ma'am toppers do ...........,<funda>.............so of course toppers are smart

"No, they are not outspoken I mean, they are just intelligent, they are not cool type personality"

No, ma'am. Raghuram rajan is a gold medalist, Phd from Ivy league, he is smart, he is outspoken. I believe had he not been married, he would have been more eligible bachelor than Salman Khan.

2. Who is your role model?
Swami Vivekananda and Gulzar(in writing)

So, Swami Vivekananda is your role model, You are a writer, can you quote him?
: "Three things can make every man great, every nation great: conviction of power to success, absence of jealousy and suspicion, helping all who are trying to be good or do good ."
But these are quotes, there are no proofs for them, u are an engineer why you follow these?
: Ma'am, The modern nash equilibrium theory is actually the repacked version of helping all who are trying to be or do good and there is 15 page proof available for this. These are not quotes, these are conjectures , being proved over time.
3. Let's say there is a situation where 7 of your team members are ethically incorrect, a client is trying to execute an ethically incorrect project from you, majority of your team is supportive , what will you do ?

: Ma'am I will prefer to deviate these seven people to other project, and bring able people to replace them.

So, you won't accept that project?

: No, Ma'am. There should be a limit. You can't start doing projects on unethical playgrounds, and if so, someday you will start doing projects for drug mafia . This is not the way society should go forward.

and after these we talked about India's economic position, dollar-rupee rate, make in india, fdi and all those stuff that we talk everyday on tea. Of course it was an encounter to remember.

...............................................................................................................................................................

Postscript notes to Juniors:

1.Always hedge your CV, never make it biased to one profile completely. A finance CV with one project or intern in analytics fares much better than a completely finance biased cv if you miss the early targets.

2. Never write #DAY1 or day2 thing on your facebook status post placement. Don't attach dream with job like stuffs. The adjective dream should not be used for Job type of things. Dream is a classic word, Dream is happiness , dream is ur parents, dream is a cute girlfriend, things like job will come and go. Don't be ecstatic, be responsible , work hard get placed and then help your friends.

3. Be confident, It matters more than being prepared.

KERALA TOURISM :DAY 2 and ALLEPPEY BACKWATERS

May be because " It's always our self we find in the sea.”   or may be because the strong analogy water hold with life as it goes on irrespective of whatever it dissolves ...or may be the inductive serenity , You never get tired of water . “It is life, I think, to watch the water. A man can learn so many things.”  ―  Nicholas Sparks ,  The Notebook Comfort ,freedom, an aura of redemption and the sunny rays reflecting back from waves ,kissing my cheeks and knowingly or unknowingly melting the sun cream ...I have never expected more than this from nature . The day with Alappuzha/Alleppey was precisely a floating day  :Six good hours of boating across Alleppey backwaters . And it all began like this    The panoramic view of back waters taken from boat    Coconut trees have its own charm."And the kerala coconut beer is a must try, its sumptuous in taste and cheaper than kingfisher "said one resident. Anyway it w...

KERALA TOURISM : namkeen paani and day 1

Before I start putting the glances of god’s own country as they say ,that train journey extended over  the span of 48 hours deserves a firm mention . The worst part of story was : no pantry car ,that simply means food was an issue and was like a setback to foodie people .People were racing between the halt time of train bringing something and something as its good to have something than nothing .And the best part of the story was : Chinua Acheyba . I was rushing through his cult classic magnum opus “ things fall apart ” till end of the journey before I completed it . And when ever I passed by a lingering line ,it was a time to take a break and discuss. "When the moon is shining the cripple becomes hungry for a walk." Anyway the breaks  were variably filled by playing cards, sleeping and of course arguments. Prolixity has never been alien to this country . You just need t...
